Cancelled - History Group Talk

Cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances

Waldringfield History Group

invites non-members to its meeting

at 2.30 pm on Thursday 13th Dec.

at The Village Hall

Julia Jones, local author, blogger and publisher, co-owner of Golden Duck (UK) Ltd (publishers) and known to many of you, has kindly agreed to give a talk entitled '1946 - Coming home to Waldringfield.' She will talk about her father, George Jones' experiences leading up to the WW2 including the voyage on Naromis about which she has written a good book. She will also talk about his experiences after being demobbed in 1946 and setting up a yacht brokering business in Waldringfield. Julia has happy childhood memories of Waldringfield. Her own business is named after two vessels on the Deben - Goldenray, a Scottish MFV converted to a houseboat and berthed in Woodbridge (it belongs to Julia's business partner, Francis Wheen) and Peter Duck which was built for Arthur Ransome and bought from him by Julia's parents. The talk will be followed by tea and the History Group will then resume its normal activities (preparing for an April Talk and work on 'the book', etc) from 4pm. Admission to non-members will be £4 including refreshments /biscuits/cake and a donation to Julia's favoured charity.
We hope to see you there - in the Kennedy Room on December 13th.
Hope this can be rearranged in the New Year
