Waldringfield Fairway Committee 
The Waldringfield Fairway Committee (WFC) is responsible to the Crown EstateCommissioners and to Trinity House for the administration of moorings, and the maintenance of a navigable channel in the River Deben between Early Creek and Methersgate Quay under the Crown Estate Regulating Lease. Community Speedwatch
Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a national initiative where active members of local communities join with the support of the Police to monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices. Vehicles exceeding the speed limit are referred to the Police with the aim of educating drivers to reduce their speeds. In cases where education is blatantly ignored and evidence of repeat or excessive offences is collated (even across county borders), enforcement and prosecution follow.
Volunteers receive appropriate training, and are supported by neighbourhood policing team (NPT) staff. As the local scheme covers several villages, with the equipment shared around, it is felt that it is better for volunteers to work in each other's areas, rather than their own, to ensure objectivity and to reduce their concerns about participation.
The scheme aims to cater for the problem of real or perceived speed related offending, and through partnership with the community it is to be used in circumstances that are necessary, justifiable and proportionate in order to reduce death and injury on the roads, improve the quality of life for local communities, reduce the speed of vehicles to the speed limit and increase public awareness of inappropriate speed
Speedwatch activity is not about interfering with neighbours' behaviour; it is a proactive solution to improve the safety and quality of life for everyone in the community.

Waldringfield is a voluntary non-political group of villagers who are looking for ways to improve the impact we have on our climate and the natural world to help sustain our beautiful planet into the future. We have currently ten pilot groups (see website below) and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join and help us make Waldringfield a wildlife and environmentally friendly village.

Fit Villages
Rural communities in Suffolk are being given the opportunity to get more active thanks to an initiative launched by Suffolk Sport.
‘Fit Villages' gives local communities the chance to run subsidised sporting and physical activity sessions from local facilities such as village halls, community centres and recreation grounds thanks to support from local funding bodies.
The project focuses on ensuring that living in a rural area presents an opportunity rather than a barrier to accessing sport and physical activity and aims to empower the local community to make it a central part of their life.
By participating, local people are given the chance to engage with an activity programme without transport, time, and environmental concerns and at a greatly reduced cost; all reasons cited as obstructions to quality activity provision in rural areas.
As the project continues to grow we are always looking for new villages to get involved – would you like to see one of the above activities, or perhaps something new like Walking Football or Beginners Running come to your village?

CATS
Coastal Accessible Transport (CATS) is a community Transport operator based in Leiston and operating services throughout much of coastal Suffolk. Currently operating 11 vehicles, CATS delivered 26,896 passenger journeys and covered 185,904 miles during 2009/10. Many of its drivers are volunteers, and the services provide a lifeline to the social, medical and educational and shopping facilities for residents and visitors in the area.

Q. This all seems a little formal?
A. Don’t worry. It may seem a little formal, but the guidelines are set out here for the purposes of due diligence and completeness. The vast majority of us follow these guidelines as a matter of course anyway – it’s all common sense really.
Q. Who can join Waldringfielders?
A. Anyone can ask to join the group, but they will only be added to it if they can show that they have a connection with our community. Each time someone asks to join, the administrator will contact them directly and establish what their connection is to our community (see “Community”, below) and then decide whether they can become a member.
Q. How can I join Waldringfielders?
A. There are two ways to join:

Q. Is the Waldringfielders email group a forum for debate?
A. No. It’s specifically not a forum for debate. It’s an email group for members to share news, give updates, offer items for sale, offer help, ask questions of its members, be supportive and be nice to one another. There is a separate forum available (see details below).
Q. What does “Community” mean in the context of Waldringfielders?
A. For the purposes of the Waldringfielders email group, it means:

Q. Are there any guidelines to consider when sending an email to the group?
A. Yes. They are a matter of common sense, but stated briefly include:
Offensive material – don’t send emails which contain information intended to be inflammatory, offensive or which might be libellous to others.
Inciting illegal behaviour – Obvious one this. It’s a no-no.
Privacy – don’t copy in the group to a reply you are making to a message which was sent to you privately, unless you have the permission from the original sender.
Respect – have respect for others’ views. You may not agree with them, but as long as they are legal, honest, unoffensive and follow our guidelines, they have a right to their view.
Ownership and liability – the ownership and therefore liability of emails sent to the group remain with the sender.
Signing your email – remember that it may not be obvious from your email address who you are, so when you send an email to the group, please sign it with your name.
Q. What should I do if I think someone has acted irresponsibly, or has not adhered to the guidelines of the group?
A. Send a private email to the administrator of the group (nigel@nigelshore.com) with the details. He will then follow up and investigate. The email group is not a forum for debate, so it’s best to deal with these issues privately.
Q. What happens if a member doesn’t adhere to these guidelines?
A. Like all things, there are checks and balances to consider, but ultimately, they will be removed from the group.
Q. What happens to emails I have received from Waldringfielders which were sent by someone who has subsequently been removed from the group?
A. They will still exist in your email box because the Waldringfielders email group has no control over emails once they have been delivered to you. Like all emails, you can decide whether to delete, save, archive or simply leave them alone as you so wish.
Q. What if someone posts something with which I strongly disagree?
A. If somebody posts something with which you strongly disagree, please take it up with them in person rather than use the Waldringfielders email group as a conduit for your discussion.

This site was built to try to have a better form of communication within Waldringfield, one in which it is easier for people opt in or out of topics. Another aim is to make it easier for people to join the group, post views, find opening times, share ideas, form groups etc.
If you want to join, then sign up by using the ‘Register’ links.
Using the forum, you can subscribe to different topics and groups and unsubscribe from others. That way you only receive messages from those you choose and ignore those groups that are not of interest to you. You can also set ‘friends’ and ‘foes’ to highlight or ignore (respectively) certain members. I know that this feature will please some villagers. Any groups (e.g. WALGA) can have their own forums to keep in touch. With the ability to target your messages more accurately, I believe that discussion will be easier and more fruitful."
