Deben Estuary Partnership
Invitation to Parish Council representatives and residents who live close to the river or within the estuary area to a meeting on
Saturday morning , March 16th
at Waldringfield Village Hall - 9.30 for 10.00am .
Andrew Hawes - will explain the conclusions outlined in his estuary wall report
and
Suffolk Wildlife Trust - will present a new report on birdlife on the river
As you will know, the Deben Estuary Partnership is working with the Environment Agency to draw up an Estuary Plan. This will be an important document which will help to inform future decisions about the river and surrounding area.
One of the most important elements of the PLAN will be to safeguard the estuary from flooding. Andrew Hawes Associates has been asked to produce a report which details the present condition of the estuary walls and grades their likely survivability in high, surge tide conditions.
This significant report tells us a lot more about where we need maintenance or improvement of the walls - and how much that work may cost.
Your feedback on this report - and the problems that face us in maintaining our river walls - is important.
If you know anyone else in your parish who is interested in the future of the Deben Estuary please encourage them to come along for a couple of hours on Saturday, March 16th.
